Is there a minimum order?
Yes. We have a minimum order of 8 pieces for Connect-A-Mats/Oaks and 8 pieces for Connect-A-Carpets.
What material are the mats made of?
The mats are made of a flooring grade EVA, Ethyl Vinyl Acetate, closed-cell foam. They have the same properties of a flip flop shoe that you wear to the beach.
Can I mix the foam mats with the carpet mats?
Yes. You can virtually make any size mat with either the foam mats, carpets or mix both together for a truly unique design. Use our Design Grid to help you determine your pattern.
Can the mats be used outdoors?
Yes. Since they do not absorb water they are safe to use outdoors. The color may fade eventually if left in direct sunlight for extended periods.
Do the mats absorb water or odors?
No the mats will not absorb water or odors because they are a closed cell foam.
Can I clean the mats?
The mats can be vacuumed on a regular basis or washed with a mild detergent and a sponge. Spot washing is best. Completely submersing the mats in water or using a string mop is not recommended.
Are the mats stain resistant?
Stains or spills should be wiped up right away. The mats are a closed-cell foam which does not absorb moisture, therefore stains will not penetrate the material.
Can I order any size I want?
The foam mats are 2' x 2' interlocking squares. This includes borders and corners which give your flooring a finished edge with rounded corners. The mats interlock together, like a puzzle, to make larger sizes in two foot increments. We can virtually do any size. Just remember when ordering that the width and length must be divisible by 2'. If your dimensions end in an odd number, then simply round up to the next number that is divisible by 2'. The mats can easily be cut to fit any dimension.
Can I use heavy exercise equipment on the mats?
Yes. The mats are good for all exercise equipment. Universal gyms and treadmills work well on the foam Connect-A-Mats. For weight benches that have little posts for legs, we recommend using a small piece of plywood under the legs of the weight bench to disperse the weight of the bench. In addition, this will eliminate the possibility of poking a hole in the mat.
Can the mats be used on carpeting or hardwood surfaces? Are the mats tear resistant?
The mats can be used on carpeting as long as there is no movement from side to side. If there will be a lot of activity on the mats, such as jumping or running, we do not recommend using them on carpeted surfaces because the carpeting acts like a layer of air and the mats will move around, even large areas.
The foam mats are not resistant to tearing, puncturing or indentation from a heavy object or high heels. However, with proper care they should last many years and damaged pieces can be replaced. We always encourage our customers to order a few extra inside pieces, if they are covering a large area. You can have them as spares.
Are all colors in stock?
Typically, Yes. We have over a million square feet of storage space in our warehouse.
Can I get a sample before I order?
Yes, you can request a FREE sample by submitting out our Sample Request form.
How do I order for odd-sized room dimensions?
The foam mats are 2' x 2' interlocking squares. This includes borders and corners which give your flooring a finished edge with rounded corners. The mats interlock together, like a puzzle, to make larger sizes in two foot increments. We can virtually do any size! Just remember when ordering that the width and length must be divisible by 2'. If your dimensions end in an odd number, then simply round up to the next number that is divisible by 2'. You can easily cut the mats to fit any room dimension. What is the delivery time?
The normal delivery time is 3-5 days from the time of order. Most orders are shipped via UPS same day or next business day.
Are the corners and borders included?
Yes, the correct number of corners, borders and inside pieces are shipped with every order, based on the finished size of your mat. This includes orders that have more than 1 color. You do not have to figure out the number of pieces for each. Just provide us with your finished dimensions and we'll do all the calculating.
Can the mats be cut?
Yes, the dense foam mats are easily cut for a custom fit that is not a measurement in 2 foot increments. In this case order a finished mat that is a little bigger than your room size and trim along two walls in the room. The mats are easily cut using an Exacto knife or a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. When cutting the mats leave a 1/4" gap between the mat and the wall for expansion with humidity.
Can I work out on the mats?
Yes. The soft floor mats are the best aerobic floor you can buy for your money!
Can I use free weights on the mats?
We do not recommend using our foam mats for dropping free weights on them.
How dense are the mats?
The mats are a flooring grade EVA with a 35° density. If that doesn't mean anything to you, then the mats are firm enough to hold an average sized person with shoes on, with out sinking into the mat. If you jump up and down on the mats, they will compress some. The foam mats are soft enough for young children and infants to play on.
What is the life expectancy of these mats?
Unlike rubber the dense foam mats do not decay over time. Expected useful life for the mats is over 10 years. In heavy traffic areas such as martial arts facilities useful life may be closer to 5 years.
Can chairs and tables be used on the mats?
Not on the Connect-A-Mats. Chairs and table will sink into the mats and potentially puncture the surface. We recommend purchasing a plastic or acrylic chair pad to place on the Connect-A-Mat surface. These can be purchased at any retail office supply store.
