Lock-Tile Floor Tiles

From $11.65

Lock-Tile floor tiles is a tough and flexible interlocking PVC floor tile which provides an “instant” self lay floor surfacing for use in a wide variety of heavy-duty and high traffic areas. By reason of the simple and original “jigsaw” profile used on all its four sides the tiles can be “locked” firmly together in a matter of seconds using only a rubber mallet, enabling a complete floor to be laid, or lifted, with great speed, without a need for expensive labor or professional floor installation.

Description

Lock-Tile floor tiles high density, together with it’s average thickness of 1/4″ tough injection molded 100% PVC compound, ensures excellent quality of both noise reduction and heat insulation. Adhesives are not required for most applications but are recommended when the floor will be subject to heavy and continuous surface moisture levels or exposed to direct sunlight. In such cases, like all floors, the substrate must be smooth, dry and dust free.

Lock-Tile floor tiles have been installed in factories, warehouses, retail stores, post offices, schools, garages, government buildings, airports, sports complexes, ice rinks, fitness/training centers, computer rooms, and many other projects where their slip resistant, easy clean, flame and chemical resistant properties are important considerations.

Lock-Tile Cleaning & Maintenance
Although Lock-Tile is resistant to oil and most chemicals, it is prudent to remove any spillages as soon as possible. As with any type of floor regular cleaning will maintain Lock-Tiles’ attractive appearance and ensure maximum life for your floor. Regular light cleaning is preferable to infrequent heavy cleaning. After sweeping, any type of mop and general purpose cleaning detergent may be used to clean your Lock-Tile floor. However in order to obtain best results and maximum life from your floor we recommend using a microfiber mop and double bucket mop system available from most hardware or janitorial supply centers, together with a neutral PH cleaning detergent such as Fabuloso® all purpose cleaner. For larger areas a cylindrical scrubber dryer may be used. Lock-Tile has recommended coatings which can be applied to maintain and protect the original beauty of the tile.

Installation

PREPARATION
  • Lock-Tile must be site conditioned at room temperature for 24 hours prior to installation. During this period room temperature should be maintained at 70o F +/- 5o F (21o C +/- 3o C).
  • Remove as much equipment as possible from the work area. Lock-Tile should be laid around rather than under heavy machinery.
  • Thoroughly sweep floor area and remove any debris.
  • Fill any significant holes or cracks.
INSTALLATION
  1. Start by calculating the center of the room. Install tiles from the center working out towards the walls, using a rubber mallet or engineering hammer to connect the tiles.
  2. The tiles can be easily cut with a sharp utility knife, or jigsaw. For best results especially in large installations the use of a band-saw is recommended.
  3. Once all the full tiles have been installed then proceed with the trimmed tiles. A space of 1/4″ (6mm) expansion gap should be left at the walls and any other obstacles such as pillars and extremely heavy equipment.
  4. If required the expansion gap can be filled with a flexible caulk and/or covered with PVC base cove.
  5. In most applications no gluing is required. The only situations that gluing is recommended are:
  • When the tiles will be exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Where there are extremely heavy traffic maneuvers combined with tight turning.
  • Floor is exposed to high temperatures.
  • Tiles are installed in cold temperatures

When gluing is required for best results we recommend the use of TILEBOND 55 (see product information).

COATING For additional; protection and a enhanced look it is worth considering applying 2 coats of TILECOTE 88
TIRE MARKS For applications prone to tire marking especially where marking tires are used on light color tiles, we recommend the application of TIREGUARD 44 on all floor areas that are in contact with the tires. (See product information).
CLEANING
  • As with any type of floor regular cleaning will maintain Lock-Tile’s attractive appearance and ensure maximum life for your floor.
Regular light cleaning is preferable to infrequent heavy cleaning.
  • After sweeping, any type of mop and general purpose cleaning detergent may be used to clean your Lock-Tile floor. However in order to obtain best results and maximum life from your floor we recommend using a micro fiber mop system with twin compartment bucket available from most hardware or janitorial supply centers, together with a neutral PH cleaning detergent such as Fabuloso all purpose cleaner. For larger areas a cylindrical scrubber dryer may be used.
MAINTENANCE Although Lock-Tile is resistant to oil and most chemicals (see technical specification sheet) Nonetheless, it is prudent to remove any spillages as soon as possible.
